Satisfy

[Psalm 90:1-2, 14-16]

lyrics

Let Your deeds be shown
To Your servants, Lord.
Let Your glory shine
On our children, Lord.
Let Your deeds be shown.

Satisfy us in the morning with Your love.
Satisfy us at daybreak.

Walking desert lands,
Endless skies.
The fire of a journey
Where destiny hides.

Yearning for a place.
Heartfelt cries.
A generation dwelling.
A love that binds our lives.

Satisfy us in the morning with Your love.
Satisfy us at daybreak.

Unless You go before us,
Our hearts, they melt away.
Our hand in Yours, You guide us.
In Your loving arms we pray.

Glowing in your presence,
Your face erases time.
A soul once waiting restless,
Now free in dance divine--
Free in dance to shine.

Satisfy us in the morning with Your love.
Satisfy us at daybreak.
Satisfy us in the morning with Your love.

Let Your deeds be shown
To Your servants, Lord.
Let Your glory shine
On our children, Lord.
Your favor,
Your favor,
Your favor upon us

Generations

[Psalm 90:1,4,16]

lyrics (Lenape, Hebrew, & English)

kikayuyëmënaninkahke
our ancestors

L'dor v'dor
HaRuach al ha-aretz
L'dor v'dor
HaRuach al ha-t'filot shelanu.
From generation to generation
The Spirit is upon the earth
From generation to generation
The Spirt is upon our prayers.

A thousand years
In Your sight
Are as yesterday
That has passed
And as a watch
In the night.

Where morning dawns
   and evening fades
The old ones laugh
   with wrinkled face.
From generations past
   to generations now,
We take their blessing
   the chant of joy.
We take their blessing
   the chant of joy.

Where morning dawns and evening fades
   Every generation
   We take their blessing
Where morning dawns and evening fades
   Every generation
   We take their blessing
We take their blessing
   The chant of joy
   The chant of joy
The chant of joy
The chant of joy

Moshe's Numbedub

[Psalm 90:3,5-6; Exodus 2:10-15; Numbers 20:6-12; Deuteronomy 34:1-4]

lyrics

Learn to number your days,
consider your ways.

refrain
Learn to number you days, consider your ways.

chorus
All men are like grass, springing up in the morning.
In the evening they dry, whither, and are blown away.

Moshe's Numbedub:

Gather all the people 'round and tell me what you think about my story now, man.

Because 'pon time, you see,
Me be one of the wealthy. Me be one of the rich.
Me be havin' the power to scratch every itch.
Chillin' with the downpresser elite,
me be the one you wanted to meet.
But, you know, man, me could not relate.
Me be havin' the fun, but me could not assimulate.
There alway be the one, him who insinuate
me be on the outside looking in.
'Tis the mark 'pon my skin.
So you know me could not turn 'way from the people's oppression.
You know me had to make an impression.
A quick hit--
that be it.
Him gone down.
Me had done left town.
Me had to learn
(you have to learn)
what the wise, they discern:
all men are like grass...

So this here I stand
on the mountain side,
lookin' out at the land
because of me pride.
Me not done the plan
to talk
to the rock.
A quick hit--
That be it.
The water, it flow,
but the L-rd, He said, "No,
to Zion you can't go."
So now me know,
and you should know,
that even though it don't show,
all men are like grass...

I had me own downs and ups
because like grass in the morning, man erupts
to get his own,
to grab a throne
like dogs fighting for a bone.
Everything matters,
everything counts,
'til it all be in tatters
and accounts be set,
and bets be called.
Last words be scrawled
in the evening sky.
Then like grass that is dry
let me fly
and take this whithered body to rest.
Me done me best
to walk in the light,
fight the good fight.
Learn to number your days,
consider your ways.
Learn to number your days,
consider your ways,
because me hope,
and you should hope,
in the limits of life's scope,
for all men be like grass,
springing up in the morning,
in the evening they dry,
they whither,
and are blown away.

(chorus)

Thou turnest man back into dust, and saith, "Turn back, ye children of men." In the morning they are like grass that groweth up. In the morning it flourisheth and groweth up. In the evening it is cut down and whitherith.

A Touch in the Dirt

[Psalm 90:5,7-11; Job 27:3; John 7:38]

lyrics (English, Hebrew, Portuguese)

Your finger stirred the dust,
A sigh through Your lips,
In love, and hope, and trust
I came to be.
Knit in a moment;
Made for eternity.
Does your hand rest on me now?
Do you breathe within my soul?
As long as I have life within me
Ruach Eloha b'ahpi.
[trans: Breath of G-d is in my nostrils]

You hold me through the night,
Yet still at breaking day:
Breaking dreams,
Breaking love, and hope, and trust.
Suddenly inside afraid
That with a finger snap or word
I am fearfully unmade.
I believe. I believe. Ani ma'ainah
     [trans: I believe]
M'kirbi yizloo nachalay mayim chaim,
mayim chaim

[trans: Out of my innermost being flows living waters, living waters.]
Living waters flow.

[trans (from Portuguese):
With a touch in the dirt,
With a quick breath I filled your nostrils with life.
You were not, and then you were.
Fearfully made with love casting out all fear.
I give you a hope that does not disappoint
And trust that does not fail.
With these three,
Love, and hope, and trust
I invite you into eternity.

Work of Our Hands

[Psalm 90:3,5-6; ]

lyrics (Hebrew)

Chourus:

u-ma-a-se ya-dei-nu kon-ne-na a-lei-nu u-ma-a-se ya-dei-nu kon-ne-hu
Establish for us the work of our hands.
Establish the work of our hands.

What are we doing, and what's in our head,
workin' for a prize 'til the body drops dead.
Get yourself in the door,
make your mark, push for more,
till your knuckles are sore,
driven to make somethin' of the work of our hands.

(chorous)

Bloodshot eyes and grinding teeth,
a buzz to drown the beat that drives beneath.
The voice is so small.
The heart hears the call.
The dream to give all,
to make somethin' good from the work of our hands.

(chorous)

My painstaking past, so much to prove;
it's a stone in my path and it needs to be moved.
The seasons run true.
The soil is renewed,
so I'm looking to You
to establish the work of my hands.

(chorous)

Change our ways and our days; we'll walk a new line.
Watch the clocks set to a new kind of time.
Do right by your neighbor;
direct your labor
to receive God's favor.
He will establish His work through our hands.

(chorous)
